Ads on the Big Screen
The season 1 DVD has been selling like crazy worldwide. That’s good. That’s great. Warner Brothers is making money on The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Now we just need season 2 sales to do the same and reinforce the profitability of the show. That’s what the Freaking Big Sept/Oct PUSH is all about… promoting the hell out of season 2! We have some no-cost guerilla marketing tactics planned in that regard, but to really make a splash, we also need some big advertising… like ads on the big screen.
MOVIE THEATER PRE-SHOW ADS
With a package through Screenvision, we can have ads on 38 screens in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago for two weeks (that’s the minimum run time), beginning September 25th. It’ll be a 10-second slide that appears on screen three times before every movie showing on those screens. In addition to that, Screenvision will put some valuable PR behind The Sarah Connor Chronicles fan efforts. So not only will we be promoting DVD/Blu-ray sales to captive audiences in three cities, we’ll also get media exposure.
How much money do we need? Well, as much as you can bear to part with. There’s no end-goal on the donation meter this time because the more you donate, the more screens we can advertise on. At the minimum, though, we need $2530 by August 28th to make it happen.
As of this posting, we’ve raised $883 from sales of the Cameron CPU USB Flash Drives. We also have $443 from general site donations and excess contributed to the billboard fund. So that gives us a starting point of $1326 and leaves us in need of $1204.
Donate here:
For reference:
Minimum goal: $1204
Every $60 over the minimum goal amount gets us another screen. You can’t advertise on a single screen in a movie theater, though. You have to advertise on every screen in a theater. For example, to run ads in a 10-plex theater requires $600 (10 screens x $30 x 2 weeks = $600). So if there’s enough money raised by the 28th to add a couple screens, we’ll switch to a larger theater in one of the cities. But if there’s enough money to add several more screens, we’ll be able to add another theater in another city.
We’ll keep this PayPal donation meter going beyond start a new donation meter after August 28th because we’re hoping going to do a second two-week run of movie theater advertising starting October 16th. And Cameron chips will continue to fund this ad campaign as well.

.
Pretty good idea.
Definitely will be donating one way or another…
I think I might just go to NY to see a movie with a TSCC ad… =D
Sent 10$! C’mon we can make also this one!
Hi,
has anybody ask the cast about support of this videoclip ?
It would be great if Lena, Summer, Thomas, Brian … or maybe Josh exclusively would appear.
What do you think ?
Greetings from the german resistance,
Gerold
Just donated $25.
This is an excellent idea. Props to savethescc.com and all who support it.
$100 says I’d love to see design #3 from the moving billboard show up at a movie theatre. Whatever design is picked, I hope someone can sneak some pictures of this stuff, since I’m on the east coast. It would be a great motivator to see these campaigns in action!
hope 100$ will help that wb and fox will bring us several new seasons
greetings from germany
that would be a great idea. maybe the actors and josh will do it and dont dissapoint the fans
I just want to suggest that another good location to advertise would be the movie theatre at the Mall of America. They’re the largest mall in the US.

We at savethescc.com don’t have any pull with any of the actors or creators of the show. Sorry.
This is the most pragmatic way to save TSCC!
Friends,so?
This is gonna be a piece of cake. Lets get those donations rolling in people!
Done and done. Media exposure is FANTASTIC. Keep ‘em rollin!
I second that. Since I live in the St. Paul, I can attest to the fact that it’s a very busy theater because of easy access to public transportation and tourists. LOTS of tourists.
I have just sent 50 $ to save Cameron
This is a good way as a first step.
Next, we, ourselves, should become a sponsor of SCC (e.g. donation from TSCC fans all over the world )to see the next series….It’s a kind of business.
So, please ask our honorable Josh Friedman or some other person in charge,“How much money is needed for the next season ?”
Not only expecting the DVD/Blu-ray sales, but the worldwide TSCC fans(resistance) may be able to make up for it…I think.
TSCC Japan
I really agree with you.
We’ve considered this before but it’s the site’s position that any attempt to fan fund a third season would ultimately be unsuccessful. We don’t believe that the producers or the networks would accept that kind of donation in return for an obligation to produce another season. It’s a great idea in theory, but not practical.
done,
jeez you leave town for a couple of days..no internet…and look what happens!
This is a wonderful idea and I donated what I could.
I think you could get great impact by organizing a group purchase of season 2 DVD’s via Amazon or a similar etail outlet. If thousands of people purchased the season 2 DVD’s as part of a single statement that would speak loudly (financially) to Fox/WB and they would be crazy to ignore the potential profit in a season 3.
Awesome tactic guys I just bought the Flash Drive so I hope that helps you guys out. That was lame what Kevin Reilly or whatever said about out show “it had a nice little run, and now its over” BS. We’re coming back baby thanks to you guys! Keep fighting the good fight.
Great idea. Hope we folks from abroad will have a chance to see the final result of the add. LA is a liitle bit to far away to watch a movie
Greetings from Germany, keep on fighting.
You guys are doing great.
ok guyz
i was on holidays and couldn’t contribute on this donation,
but i did my duty with TSCC’s billboard edition
I can say you’re great and we’re great.
If TSCC will ever come back, we can be proud of our part of this succesfull happening !

Italian Resistance !
Hmmm. That sounds like it’s a pretty solid plan. The more people that will see the ad, the better the chance of the show’s return.
Who knows, it could be like the browncoat’s getting the movie.
I’m proud of all the hard work you guys have put into this operation. Savethescc has worked their tails off for the resistance.
on campuses and show episodes of TSCC and sell popcorn and drinks. Project the movie on a screen or even on a building wall. This strategy worked great in my senior marketing class in college as a way to promote our product. Oh i am always thinking of ways to get the word out
I do have an idea or two rattling around in my head and it would be cool to see them play out, but does anyone remember those 230 commercials that just said 230? It was a build up to the Chevrolet Volt. Very effective marketing strategy by GM because it played with our heads and made people curious. I think eveyone is up for a puzzle… But they have endless amounts of money that we don’t have (well i guess we paid for it with the bail-out).
Another thing i mentioned on Twitter is to have college students (TSCC fans) do a weekly drive-in movie, heck, it could even be on monday nights
“Remember, the resistance is made up of survivors. People who were smart enough to outsmart the machines. That means we have what it takes to outsmart the machine called FOX.”
Quote taken from Ryan…yes that’s me…
The television idea would be great, but I’m sure that would be very expensive.
The Mall of America sounds like a dern good idea to me, lots of exposure there.
Possibility of some media coverage as well if we’re very lucky.
That’s smart, the more people to see it in one place the better to get the message out to Mid America.
Hey even a TSCC night in the dorm lounge would be great. And that would be free and simple. Just post a few signs on your floor / in your hall and reserve the lounge.
Great job guys – keep up the hard work as ever. And we’re here to help – you just have to ask.
Nothing would be cooler than to have dorm viewing parties and if you could run one of the savethescc promo vids beforehand…wow.
Hint: hand out popcorn: fastest way to draw a crowd in a dorm..free eats
It’s a pity that we didn’t reach the goal to put it in a bigger theatre.
