planning for the future
Viewing Parties
Due to the fact that thewb.com will not be putting Season 2 online at any point in the near future, as far as we know, we’d like to announce the following changes:
- Viewing parties will continue chronologically, continuing on to Automatic from the People at 10PM on August 10th. We’d like to encourage you to watch with us via iTunes/Amazon episodes, PVR/DVR’d episodes, etc.
- We are changing the day of the viewing parties from Friday to Monday nights, ’cause we’re taking back our time slot, bitches. The time will remain the same: 10 PM Eastern Standard Time
The Print Ad
Due to the reaction and feedback we received, in conjunction with the cost, we’ve decided that placing an ad in Variety is not to the best interest of the campaign. Our goal is to communicate with the public and with the WB via DVD sales, letters, postcards, etc., which we feel would be better served by pre-movie advertising.
The Movies
We are still currently in the process of getting a solid quote, but our goal is to hit a major theatre in approximately ten major cities in the United States. The objective is to make the general public, distributed around the country, aware of the show, the DVD release, and our efforts to bring it back.
The Freakin’ Big September/October Push
As you all know, the DVD/Blu-Ray release in the U.S. of Season Two is incredibly important. We have to push it hard and get those numbers, people. Without giving away too many details – things are still rough and being planned out, so we don’t want to keep changing things and getting everyone all confused – we’re planning a (freaking) big push for it. It will include – and thanks for the suggestions guys. We’ve had some really cool ideas suggested to us and we’re working on developing them. – the following (for now):
- the billboard
- pre-movie advertising
- craigslist/classifieds campaign
- savethescc giveaway
- press kits
- “taking the streets” campaign
We know that it all sounds kinda vague right now, and it’s a li’l vague to us too, since we’re still hammering out the details and how it’s all going to work, but it’s important that you guys know what’s going on so you can give feedback and suggest new things. We’re going to keep updating as things develop and by September 3rd (mark your calendars!) we should have everything in place: a full scale campaign, complete with a calendar of daily missions and tasks.
As always…thoughts?
