The efforts to save The Sarah Connor Chronicles have come together in a billboard, in movie theatre ads, in stickers around the world, in this community that we know won’t give up. And now, we’re going to hit television. (How’s that for irony?)

How?

Google TVAds allows users to purchase television advertising space through a bidding system. This means that our airtime is determined by how much we choose to bid for a particular time slot and the competition for it. This also means that this will not be the kind of prime time advertisement that you might be used to seeing, though we will be capable of tracking the number of households reached, etc. (And no, it’s not Nielsen.)

Right now, we’re working on developing the ad itself and we need the help of you, the fans. This advertisement is a message from us to any fan out there that might not know about the fight to save The Sarah Connor Chronicles, to television network executives and media. This ad will be just that: a message from you, from us.

The advertisement will incorporate a series of ‘messages’ from the future, from fans fighting for the show. Those fans are you. So we’re asking you to be part of it.

How to Submit

Video Submissions

We’re taking open submissions for the advertisement, with the following specifications:

  • 640×480 or higher
  • must be shot from the chest up, no lower
  • black background
  • your face must be seen. No alterations, masks, hoods or obstructions can be used. The point is to present a message from the ‘human’ resistance, from real people, real fans.
  • all clothing worn must be plain and without any logos
  • no props
  • you should be as well lit and distinct from the background as possible
  • ambient noise should be at an absolute minimum; quality is an absolute must
  • there should be no visual or audio effects added to your video in any way
  • try to pause between each phrase

Example of how it should be set up.

Example of shot

Wondering what it is exactly that you need to record yourself doing? Simple. You are a fighter from the future, sending a message, asking for help. For an example of what we’re aiming for, watch this. This is the script you must follow:

HELP.

CAN YOU HEAR US?

WE NEED YOUR HELP.

IT HAPPENED.

EVERYTHING GOT DESTROYED.

BUT IT’S NOT TOO LATE.

YOU CAN CHANGE THE FUTURE.

YOU HAVE THE POWER.

SO KEEP FIGHTING.

NEVER GIVE UP.

AND REMEMBER…

THERE IS NO FATE.

THE FUTURE IS IN YOUR HANDS.

WILL YOU JOIN US?

There is no time limit on how long your video has to be, interpret the message however you like, but remember that visually, uniformity is key. The videos must follow our specifications in order to fit together properly.

Audio Submissions

We are now also taking audio submissions for the voiceover aspect of the commercial! We’re looking for a calm, clear and crisp voice. It shouldn’t be too dramatic or “over-acted”.

Guidelines:

  • speak clearly
  • pause for a few seconds after each segment
  • ambient noise should be at an absolute minimum; the higher the quality of the recording, the better

The script consists of three short segments:

MAY 19TH 2009. JUDGMENT DAY. THE DAY THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES WAS CANCELED AND THE BATTLE FOR OUR FUTURE BEGAN.

***

THE ROAD HAS BEEN LONG BUT THE BATTLE ISN’T OVER. THE SARAH CONnOR CHRONICLES IS OURS TO FIGHT FOR.

***

IF THERE IS ONE CERTAINTY IN OUR FUTURE, IT’S THIS… TOGETHER, WE HAVE HOPE.

So how do you submit?

Go here and upload your video/audio file with your email address as the file name (so we know how to contact you!) You will not be able to see your uploaded file once it is complete, nor any other uploaded files, in order to protect everyone’s privacy.

Please be aware that if your video/audio submission is chosen to be a part of the advertisement, you will be required to sign a release so we can use your video/audio.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: SUNDAY, JANUARY 17TH 2010

We’re also looking for additional technical help, so if there are any fans that are skilled or have professional experience with video and audio editing and effects, please email us at moderators@savethescc.com
